Andrew Simpson is an Assistant Professor in the History Department at Duquesne University with research interests that include the relationship between cities and academic medical centers in the late twentieth-century United States; the history of telemedicine; and the relationship between maternal-child health outcomes and economic development opportunities for underserved populations. His book, The Medical Metropolis: Health Care and Economic Transformation in Pittsburgh and Houston was published in 2019 by the University of Pennsylvania Press.
