Soumyajit Mukherjee holds an MPhil and a PhD in history from Jadavpur University and has qualified for the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission. He is a recipient of the Jadavpur University Research Fellowship for his doctoral research and the prestigious ICSSR Data Collection Abroad Award, Ministry of Education, to undertake archival research in Singapore. His research interests include maritime Business History, Economic History and International Shipping (20th Century).
