Hyoung-Goo Kang is a full and tenured professor in the Department of Finance (Business School) and the Department of Computational Finance (Engineering School) at Hanyang University. He is currently the editor-in-chief at Korea Business Review (KBR). As an entrepreneur, he founded and successfully exited Handa Partners, a TechFin company utilizing machine learning technology. In addition, he is a professor at the Graduate School of Blockchain Convergence and serves as the Head of the Blockchain Research Center. He has published about 150) papers (50+ SSCI/SCI) including Strategic Management Journal, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Corporate Governance: An International Review, Computational and Mathematical Organization Theory, Defense and Peace Economics, Internet Research, Journal of Organisational Design, etc.

Dr. Kang also acts as an advisor to the Financial Supervisory Service Commission (General Division and Financial IT Division) and the Digital Asset eXchange Alliance (DAXA). He holds a B.A. in Economics from Seoul National University, a MA (completed PhD coursework) in Economics from the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Following his service as an Air Force officer, he built a career in finance and banking, holding roles at Lehman Brothers Asia (Quantitative Strategy) and Accenture. He was also a research fellow at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University. Dr. Kang actively contributes to various finance-related committees and consulting projects.

His research focuses on innovation and technology finance. He teaches courses on cultural content finance, start-up finance, artificial intelligence, fixed income, and financial engineering. His scholarly work includes numerous publications in leading journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Computational and Mathematical Organization Theory, Sustainable Development, Defense and Peace Economics, Internet Research, and Journal of Organizational Design. He served as the President of the Korean Financial Management Association.
