Pat Denault
Until June 2015, Pat Denault was the web editor for the Business History Conference, a position she held since producing the organization's first website in the 1990s. She served as coordinating editor of the BHC's print journal, Enterprise & Society, from 2000 through 2003; she provided editorial assistance for Business and Economic History and its digital successor BEH On-Line from 1998 to 2012 and compiled the indexes and website for the digital version of print BEH. She also served as the coordinator of the book exhibit at BHC annual meetings. Finally, in 2010 Pat initiated the BHC blog, “The Exchange,” posting more than 1,400 informative items online by 2018. She also served on BHC committees and as a Trustee.
In her "real life" Pat was administrator of the Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History at Harvard (1975-1985), then associate editor of the Business History Review (1985-1995). She was administrative director of Bernard Bailyn's International Seminar on the History of the Atlantic World from 1995 until her retirement in 2008. She co-edited with Bailyn an anthology based on the Seminar, Soundings in Atlantic History (2009).
In 2025, the BHC introduced the Pat Denault Prize to honor Pat’s many contributions to the BHC’s growth since the 1980s, building connections within the business history field, with the BHC at its center.
