Bastian Linneweh is a historian of global and economic history. His dissertation provisionally entitled “The Anatomy of a Global Market in Transformation. Rubber, 1900-1960” is a study about the emergence and reconfiguration of global markets. With a commodity chain approach, he seeks to understand the role of different actors on the rubber market in times of de-globalization.The complexity of the global market is reconstructed through the commodity chains of wild, plantation and synthetic rubber.

He has received grants from the German Historical Institute in London, the Graduate School of Humanities Göttingen and the German Research Foundation. His interests lies in Business History, History of Globalization and De-Globalization, Global History and Global Commodity Chains. Currently, he is conducting archival research in Germany and the United Kingdom. In the academic year 2019 further research in the USA and Southeast Asia is planned.

His academic education took place at the Leibniz University of Hanover were he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in History and Sports and also a Masterof Artsin History.Since April 2016 he works asDoctoral Researcher and Lecturer atthe Institute for Economic and Social Historyin Göttingen.
