Nahomi Linda Esquivel is a PhD Candidate in the University of Chicago's History Department. She is a former labor organizer and the former program coordinator for Chicago's Sanctuary Working Group, a solidarity cooperative that supports and accompanies migrants in their journey toward sustainable independence. Her scholarship examines the linkages between agricultural labor, borderland development, and legal informality. Her work has been funded by the Jeffersonian Scholars Foundation, Pozen Family Center for Human Rights, Mellon Mays Foundation, UChicago Center for Latin American Studies, and the Labor and Working-Class History Association. Nahomi is a first-generation college graduate and an avid bird watcher.
