Spencer Tompkins is a PhD student in the History Department at Fordham University. He researches 20th-century US history from the perspective of US Foreign Relations and the History of Capitalism. His current project uncovers the centrality of the Department of Commerce to national and foreign economic policy in the 1960s and after.
