Mexican Silver in the World Economy, 1821-1870

Professor Sandra Kuntz Ficker holds a PhD in History from El Colegio de México. Since 2003, she has been a research professor at El Colegio de México’s Historical Studies Center. She has also been a professor at UAM-Xochimilco, as well as a visiting professor and researcher at institutions such as the University of Chicago, the University of California at San Diego, Stanford University, and the University of Texas at Austin. She is a member of the National System of Researchers, level III. She specializes in the economic history of Mexico, particularly in the period from 1850 to 1950. Within this field, his main lines of research have been foreign trade and trade policy in Mexico, as well as the economic importance of railroads. Her main publications include Empresa extranjera y mercado interno: el Ferrocarril Central Mexicano, 1880-1907 (1995); El comercio exterior de México en la era del capitalismo liberal, 1870-1929 (2007), and, more recently, Las exportaciones mexicanas durante la primera globalización (1870-1929) (2010). She is the editor of Historia Económica General de México, published by the Ministry of Economy and El Colegio de México in 2010. She has also collaborated in books and journals of international prestige.
