All concurrent sessions will take place on Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th, and the conference will conclude with an awards banquet Saturday evening.
Alfred D. Chandler Travel Grants
If you are a graduate student or recent PhD recipient presenting a paper, you may apply for an Alfred D. Chandler travel grant that will defray a portion of the costs of attending the annual meeting. All graduate student presenters are eligible for travel grants. Postdoctoral grants are available to presenters who have earned their PhD within the six years prior to the meeting, with priority given to applicants who are not employed in tenure-track/permanent university teaching or administrative positions, who have heavy teaching loads or other especially intensive duties involving students, or who are unable to draw on institutional sources of funding.
To apply, send an email to Carol Lockman, clockman@Hagley.org by January 1, 2026 requesting a travel grant, and including a short c.v., the title of your presentation at the annual meeting, and your point of departure for the meeting. If you are applying as a recent PhD also indicate information on your employment status as it pertains to the selection criteria mentioned above. You will be notified of the status of your application by January 20. Grants typically range between $200 and $700 depending on the distance travelled to the meeting.
BHC Emerging Scholars Book Proposal Workshop
The BHC’s Emerging Scholars Committee is organizing an in-person book proposal workshop to be held on Thursday, March 26th. Award-winning historian (and past BHC president) Sharon Murphy will convene this opportunity for up to five emerging scholars to improve their first-book proposals under the guidance of senior faculty. The deadline for proposals is December 15, 2025, and full details are available on the BHC Emerging Scholars webpage.
We look forward to seeing you at our 2026 meeting in London!
