I am professor of the history of business and work and Head of the Management Research Centre at the University of Wolverhampton Business School (UWBS).  Prior to joining UWBS, I held tenured posts at the Universities of Stirling and Strathclyde, and at the Centre for Business in Society (Coventry University).  I am also an editor of History Workshop Journal, and am currently co-investigator for the three year Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project on the nationalised British coal industry (1947-1994).  My publications include Aluminiumville: Government, Global Business and the Scottish Highlands (Carnegie Publishing, 2012), (with Mats Ingulstad and Espen Storli) (eds.), Tin and Global Capitalism, 1850-2000: A history of the "Devil's Metal" (Routledge, 2014) and (with Steven High and Lachlan MacKinnon) (eds.), The Deindustrialized World: Confronting Ruination in Postindustrial Places (University of British Columbia Press, 2017).
