Martina Baglietto
Martina Baglietto holds a Teaching Degree and a BA in Sociology from the University of Buenos Aires, and an MA in Economic Sociology from the National University of San Martín (Argentina). Her master’s thesis examined tourism consumption among Argentine households between 2011 and 2019, exploring both the financial infrastructures that mediate travel (from everyday payment practices to broader macroeconomic and political dynamics) and the cultural meanings of tourism as a socially valued form of consumption.
She is currently pursuing a PhD in Sociology at UNSAM and a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology at KU Leuven. Her doctoral research investigates how Europe was constructed as a desirable destination within the Argentine outbound travel market between the 1960s and 2001.
Alongside her research, Martina serves as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the National University of Luján (Argentina). She has also held professional positions in public institutions at the municipal and provincial levels, where she contributed to strategic planning, program evaluation, and the governance of major sporting events.
