Women in Business History

Louise Vanhee is a PhD researcher and teaching assistant at Ghent University’s Department of Architecture and Urban Planning. Her doctoral research examines the valuation, commodification, and circulation of architectural fragments in the early 20th century, drawing on material reuse studies, critical heritage discourse, and anthropology. Through case studies ranging from local institutions to international collectors, she employs object biographies and archival research to trace the trajectories and afterlives of fragments. She recently worked on a collaborative design for a 'chronogram' for the Jencks Foundation and e-flux, which was exhibited at CIVA, Brussels. This fall, she will be a visiting researcher at UC Berkeley on a PhD exchange grant.
