    Women in Business History

    Lindsay Schakenbach Regele teaches classes on U.S. history and the history of capitalism at Miami University, Ohio. Her research focuses on early national U.S. political economy, particularly the intersection of federal executive power and business. Her book Manufacturing Advantage: War, the State, and the Origins of American Industry, 1776-1848 examines the development of the arms and textile industries in the context of national security aims, and was published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2019. She is currently finishing a book on Joel Roberts Poinsett, which is under contract with Chicago University Press. She received her PhD from Brown University in 2015.
