I am a historical anthropologist who studies the post-WWII rise of scrap-metal recycling in steelmaking. My research combines in-depth archival research with long-term ethnographic fieldwork in Britain and Turkey. I focus on industrial settings in which metal scrap is rejuvenated into raw steel, maritime transportation of metal scrap, and the emergence of financial markets, devices, and technologies pertaining to ferrous scrap.

I am a PhD Candidate at the University of Chicago and I hold degrees from the City University of New York (MA), Bogazici University (MA), and Sabanci University (BA).
