Ludovic Cailluet

Business Historians at Business Schools

Ludovic Cailluet has been a Professor of Strategy and Business History at Edhec Business School since 2015. He started his academic career at the University of Reading and later joined the School of Management of Toulouse University. Ludovic Cailluet holds a Doctorate in Economic History from the University of Lyon and the Habilitation in management science from Toulouse University. He was co-awarded the best dissertation award of the European Business History Association in 1996.

He has been the Louis Vuitton Japan Visiting Professor at Keio University in Tokyo and an Alfred D. Chandler Jr. Visiting Scholar in Business History at Harvard Business School. He was also more recently invited as a visiting researcher at Copenhagen Business School. Ludovic is actively associated with international academic organizations. He attended for the first time the BHC in Palo Alto in 2000, has served as representative at large for the Strategic Management Society and is the current President of the European Business History Association. He has researched and published on a variety of sectors including automotive, consulting, pharmaceuticals and cosmetic. His central research interest has been the formation and dissemination of strategy practices and business history especially the emergence of new sectors. His recent research projects look at the use of the past by strategists as well the role of emotions in business history especially in family business.
