Women in Business History
She is a cultural and economic sociologist who is currently working on gender and media in Andean countries. Ph.D. in Sociology (University at Albany, SUNY) and a former Fulbright Grantee. Her dissertation compared news coverage of two economic crises: The Great Recession in the U.S. and Colombia’s crisis (1998). Laura has analyzed the representation of CEOs in the personal profiles appearing in the U.S. press during the 1990s-2000s, focusing on gendered meaning making patterns.
