Tomasz Zarycki
Tomasz Zarycki, Ph.D. - sociologist and social geographer, professor at the University of War-saw and deputy director of the Robert Zajonc Institute for Social Studies (ISS UW). His main fields of interest include historical sociology of elites, sociology of science, politics, culture, as well as the socio-political geography of Central and Eastern European countries with a particu-lar focus on Poland and Russia. His books publications include “Ideologies of Eastness in Cen-tral and Eastern Europe” (Routledge, 2014) and “The Polish Elite and Language Sciences A Per-spective of Global Historical Sociology” (Palgrave, 2022) which has received the Polish Insti-tute of Arts and Sciences of America (PIASA) 2023 Bronislaw Malinowski Award in the Social Sciences. His papers have been published in journals such as Current Sociology, Communist and Post-Communist Studies, European Review, European Journal of Social Theory, East Euro-pean Politics and Societies, Europe-Asia Studies, GeoForum, Journal of Communist Studies and Transition Politics, Journal of World-Systems Research, Sociological Forum, Social Science In-formation, Theory and Society, and several others.
