Thomas is a Ph.D. student in international business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, in the Gies College of Business. His research combines historical and other qualitative methods to build theory in the fields of international business, organization theory, and strategic management. His current research studies explore such topics as the political behavior of multinationals, the governance of global value chains, and the interaction between emerging multinationals and their institutional environments. Much of his research focuses on the African context, specifically central and east Africa. He previously earned his bachelor's in anthropology from the University of Chicago.
