I wrote an individual research paper and my work was fortunate to be accepted for the Council of Thai Studies 2026 Annual Meeting, which will be held at NIU from November 6-8, 2026.
If admitted to your annual conference, I can also bring the cross cultural communication skills I developed as a translator into interactions with my peers. My future colleagues will come from different regions and academic backgrounds. I may not be the person with the deepest theoretical knowledge, but I have a knack for finding common ground when differences arise, for keeping a conversation moving instead of letting it stall. I did this kind of work when I was a translator. I did it when I was a tutor. I would just be doing it in a new place, with new people, one more time.
