CALL FOR BHC SPONSORED SESSION PROPOSALS FOR 2027 OAH
As an affiliate scholarly association, the Business History Conference (BHC) has the opportunity to sponsor a presentation (panel or roundtable) for the 2027 annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians (OAH), which will be held in San Francisco, CA from April 1-4, 2027. We invite BHC members to submit a panel or roundtable proposal on a related business history topic for consideration to be sponsored by the BHC.
We welcome proposals for a variety of session types: three-paper sessions; panels and roundtables; state of the field; chat rooms; lightning rounds, and workshops. The three-paper session, along with roundtables, have long been the most popular forms for sessions, but we urge contributors to experiment with other formats to encourage more interaction. Proposals will be evaluated by the BHC’s Scholarly Liaison Committee, consisting of: Bernardo Batiz-Lazo, Bianca Murillo, Michael Aldous, Linday Keiter, Daniel Levinson Wilk, and Grace Ballor.
Information required for each proposal for a BHC-sponsored session:
-
Session Title
-
Session 100-word Abstract (for roundtable and/or for each paper if panel)
-
Speakers with full contact information (affiliation, email, phone, and address) and participant role (chair, commentator, panelist, etc.)
The deadline for our consideration is March 30, 2026. Please email your submissions to Grace Ballor at grace.ballor@unibocconi.it with the subject line: “2027 OAH Session Proposal.” Note: the BHC has a small fund to assist BHC members participating in a sponsored session at the OAH.
*Registration and Membership Requirements: All participants are required to register for the Conference on American History. Participants who specialize in U.S. history or support themselves as U.S. historians are also required to be members of the OAH. Participants representing other disciplines are not required to be members of the OAH.
*Repeat Participation: Participants may only appear once on the program in any given year. OAH allows graduate students, contingent faculty, and early career scholars (no more than 3 years past receiving their PhDs) to appear in consecutive conferences, however, others are prohibited from participating in two consecutive conferences in the same role. If you have questions about this policy, e-mail the OAH conference department. (meetings@oah.org)
*Participants of solicited sessions must complete their speaker agreement to take part in the program. If they are not received the participant may be excluded from participating.
