2025 BHC Book and Journal Exhibit/Auction

Check out some of the books that will be on display here.

Invitation to Participate in the Book and Journal Exhibit

We invite publishers to participate in our Book and Journal Exhibit. We particularly encourage non-U.S.-based publishers to take part.

The publishers' exhibit is a combined book and journal table-top display, housed in an area near the meeting rooms to encourage browsing. We would be happy to receive one display copy of each book or journal you wish to exhibit, along with order forms, subscription information, catalogues, brochures, and other handouts.

We expect approximately 250 people to attend, primarily historians and economists. Members of the BHC have diverse interests ranging broadly across the fields of business and economic history. The organization is international in membership: scholars from the UK, many European countries, Canada, Japan, and Latin America will attend. The theme for the 2025 meeting is "The Business of Labor".

There is no fee for exhibiting books or journals at the BHC meeting, but we require exhibitors to donate the books and journals they send to the conference for our silent auction. There will be a fee for the display of flyers, catalogs, and like materials by publishers who do not display books and/or journals. Publishers may also elect to purchase advertising in a variety of packages and/or to sponsor meeting events. We offer the following:

Exhibit Type Cost
Table-top display of books and/or journals, plus any flyers, etc. Free, with donation of publications
Flyers and/or catalogs distributed on tables in book display (no books or journals provided) $100
Advertisement in BHC program $300

Publishers wishing to purchase paid advertising without joining the display need not register. Instead, they should contact BHC Secretary-Treasurer Roger Horowitz, who can also explain sponsorship possibilities. Publishers’ representatives are expected to register for the annual meeting at standard rates.

Please note that we cannot return books, journals, or any advertising materials to publishers. Therefore, please do not send banners, book stands, or other valuable materials; we can accommodate small table-top cardboard stands, such as enlarged jacket images. Order forms are encouraged, but we do not permit selling at the conference.

To assist us in planning, we ask publishers who wish to send books, journals, and/or advertising materials such as flyers and brochures to the table-top display to register using the form provided at this link.

Please submit your registration form no later than February 21st. If you have questions about the exhibit, please contact Carol Lockman at clockman@hagley.org.

Because the hotel has limited storage space, we ask that books and other materials for the exhibit be timed to arrive no earlier than Monday, March 10, 2025; they must arrive no later than Wednesday, March 12, 2025 to be included in the exhibit. Materials should be sent via FedEx, UPS, DHL, or a similar service, with the shipping label (including your return address) addressed as follows:
